My name is Cathy Modeste-Short. I moved to Yellowknife in 2003, with my husband and two children. I am originally from Deline, NT on Great Bear Lake where I worked as a school community counsellor for nine years. I have five years experience working in Inuvik in early childhood education and also two years with the NWT Council of Persons with Disability here in Yellowknife.

I have made a kit to educate students on gathering and uses of traditional medicine for Yk1. This kit contains a lot of the knowledge I learned from my mother and is still is use in schools today.

I have worked at Mildred Hall School for the past 12 years. I love my career as an Educational Assistant, because I really enjoy working with children, teachers and staff members.
