Mme Leigh's class worked hard baking cookies for the dogs at the SPCA. Last week, they made cookies for the staff and then wanted to help out the SPCA and make treats for the dogs. Bravo les amis!

Breakfast Club
We are always looking for Breakfast Program parent volunteer from 7:50 - 8:40 each morning. Please sign up here if you can
make it.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
We are looking for a new PAC chair this year. If you are interested, please email me ( heidi.boudreau@yk1.nt.ca ). The PAC chair would come to monthly meetings and help make decisions regarding school and student projects. Come out to the PAC meeting September 26th at 6:30pm.
Squash Tournament
École Itlo is participating in a Squash Tournament for Grades 4 and 5. This tournament takes place at the Racquet Club on Friday, October 4th. We held tryouts last week and so the coaches will be contacting the families. We are luck to have the squas coach Jeff Hipfner come introduce the sport to grades 3-4-5 on Monday and Thursday this week.
Open House - Wednesday Sept. 18th
Come meet the staff in the gym at 6:30 pm. The evening will have two sessions to accommodate the famillies with two or more children. Teachers will give a brief overview of the courses they are teaching, the class schedules, library and etc. Open this link for more info.
Grand Opening - New soccer pitch Sept. 20th
Come join us for the grad Opening of our new soccer pitch at 1:30 pm. YK1 will dedicate three plaques to recognize the hard work, followed by a friendly game of soccer; students vs teachers.
Orange Shirt Day- Sept. 26th
We encourage all students to wear orange on September 26th to acknoledge National Truth and reconciliation Day on the 30th. Parents are welcome to join us in a feeding the fire ceremony at 9:30 am out on the playground.
Picture Day!
Due to road closures, school picture day is rescheduled for November 21st.
Reminder...
Kindergarten to grade 5 students are to wait outside until the 8:20 bell. Supervision begins at 8:05 am.
** Bus Safety**
Please refrain from using the bus lane on your bycicles. We ask that all familes and students biking to school to walk their bicycles on the sidewalks. Thank you for understanding.
