Godi Enı̨thł’è – January 12th - 16th, 2026
The first week back for many of us was slowly getting back into the routine of learning and going back to school. Last week, students had the opportunity to learn how to play hand games with Titan and Wilfred. A well know game that is played by many people in the Territories.
Hand Games
This week, Students will have the chance to learn to play various Traditional Games with Titan and Cherlene. Hoping it will spark some interest in the grade 4 and 5 classes as we prepare to put a school team in again this year for the Traditional Games Championship later on in March.
Here is the information and events for this week:
Breakfast Club
We continue to offer a breakfast program to all Itlo studdents. Serving whole wheat toasts, bagels, cereals, milk, cheese, yogurts, oatmeal and fruits. We are looking for Breakfast Program volunteers from 7:50 - 8:40 each morning. If you have a few minutes to spare in the mornings, please sign up here.
*** A reminder that JK students are welcomed to attend breakfast club however must be accompanied by a parent or adult.***
A gentle reminder that Breakfast begins at 8:05 for students. They must wait outside until a staff member is on site at 8:05. Once students are finished eating, they are to wait outdoors until the 8:20 bell.
Clubs at École Itlo
With the arrival of colder temperatures come the clubs. The student council have put together various activities for the next couple of months.
Club Schedule
Hold and secure Drill - Wednesday, January 14th
Emergency protocols such as lockdown, hold and secure and fire protocols are all drills that are mandatory in the NWT. We are required to have such drills a few times a year. This upcoming Wednesday, January 14th there will be a hold and secure drill. During this drill, students are asked to remain in their classes and continue with the learning.
Outdoor Recess
Recess is an important part of our students' days and they are required to go outside during recess. Just a friendly reminder that our outdoor temperature cut-off is -30. That being said, it is important to dress in layers and have the proper gear. Please also label your child's clothing.
