I was raised in Fort Smith, N.W.T., and completed high school at PWK High School in Fort Smith. After graduating from the U of A with a B.Ed. in 1986, I taught for two years in Fort Norman, N.W.T. (Tulita), Grades 2,3 & 4, and two years in Fort McPherson, N.W.T. (Tetl'it Zheh), Grades 5-9. I moved to Yellowknife and started teaching at Ecole William McDonald Middle School in 1990. I’ve taken maternity leave and other leaves totalling 4 years to be at home with my two daughters. Cynthia and Jennifer are both attending university in Edmonton. Other than teaching one year at J.H.Sissons (1999/2000) my teaching career in Yellowknife has been at Ecole William McDonald Middle School. This is my second year with the Sir John teaching team. This is my 32nd year at Yellowknife Education District #1, and my 36th year in the teaching profession. My philosophy of education is simple, “Kids don’t care what you know until they know that you care.”
