Montessori

Maria Montessori believed that children possess a unique sensitivity and intellectual ability, allowing them to absorb and learn from the environment. The Montessori classroom is a “prepared environment” where the child is free to discover, learn and understand concepts that develop the lifelong learner. The materials, scientifically developed by Montessori, are arranged by subject on child-size shelves and invite the child to interact with them. Through this interaction with the materials, classmates and adults children are able to reach their intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical potential.

NWT Montessori Society Philosophy: NWT Montessori Society is an inclusive, non-denominational school enriched by the ethnic diversity of our students. For over 30 years the school has had proven success in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow and develop intellectually, emotionally, and socially, while developing a life long love of learning.
